Astronomy in 8th Grade Science
Workshops in the Middle School Just In Time Series are content specific sessions that are scheduled throughout the school year. This series is designed to provide content knowledge and methods of teaching upcoming content when you need it, right before you teach it. In each session, we will engage in specific activities that can be used to teach middle school content . You will walk away with access to the documents needed to recreate any of the activities in your own classroom as well as ideas on how you can adjust them to meet the needs of your particular students. Please check the class notes for details regarding the content of each individual training.
In this workshop, we will review the science behind the 8th Grade TEKS: 8A - E. We will also determine the level to which we teach that science in the 8th grade classroom and engage in activities and strategies that will help students grasp the content.
We will discuss differentiation and student accountability for learning in context as well.
