This workshop is part of Region 13's Dyslexia and Section 504 Distinguished Speakers series. Educational staff who evaluate, provide intervention reading programs, or who support dyslexic students or Section 504 students in the general education or special education classroom will have the opportunity to receive in-depth professional development from a selection of nationally recognized presenters in the field of high-incidence disabilities including dyslexia and dysgraphia.
Dr. Steven Feifer presents "The Neuropsychology of Reading and Written Language Disorders" and the "Feifer Assessment of Reading (FAR)". Dr. Feifer will examine reading and writing from a brain-based educational perspective. Discussion will include matching reading and writing disorders to evidence-based interventions. Also included is an overview of the Feifer Assessment of Reading Instrument, a new reading test designed to examine the underlying cognitive and linguistic processes that support proficient reading.
