Join the Xtreme Reading teaching cohort for 2018-19! You and your reading intervention teaching colleagues will guide students reading below grade level in improving their reading skills. You will attend interactive work sessions throughout the school year beginning with a two day August Institute August 1-2. The reading program was designed for RtI Tier 2 reading intervention and has helped students throughout the country to increase their reading skills.

You will learn specific reading fluency and comprehension  strategies as well as motivational and cooperative thinking strategies for building a productive and emotionally safe learning environment for students who have often not experienced academic success in the past.

Xtreme Reading has been nationally recognized by the Institute of Educational Sciences as an intervention program that works. In the year-long reading class, students learn eight Strategic Instruction ModelR Strategies to build skills in the areas of vocabulary development and reading comprehension as well as explicit Strategies for classroom behavior, motivation, and goal-setting.

You will be provided with all of the curriculum materials needed to teach a reading intervention class including detailed daily lesson plans including course and unit organizers. The IES data indicated students enrolled in the Xtreme Reading Intervention class demonstrated a growth of 3-4 grade levels in reading after a year of instruction.

Region 13 specialists offer the only Xtreme Reading workshops in the state for reading intervention teachers. We hope you join us this year!
