Texas Education Agency (TEA) has made online resources available to Texas public schools and open enrollment charter schools through the TexasSUCCESS initiative. TexasSUCCESS includes scientifically validated and research-based online programs to target the prevention of academic failure in mathematics and reading in the following service categories:
- Grades 3–5 mathematics (Think Through Math)
- Grades 6–8 mathematics (Think Through Math)
- Algebra I (Think Through Math)
- Grades 3–5 reading (Istation)
- Grades 6–8 reading (Compass Learning)
- English I (Apex Learning)
- English II (Apex Learning)
Representatives from each of the 4 companies will provide overview training for district staff to facilitate effective implementation of these resources into instruction.
These training sessions will be BYOD (Bring Your Own Device). A limited number of laptops will be available for participants who do not have a device to bring.
Apex Learning Tutorials provide targeted reading support for students enrolled in English I and English II. Tutorials facilitate accelerated instruction and help all students meet the requirements for successful completion of English I and English II. Developed specifically for TEKS and aligned to STAAR assessments, Tutorials offer prescriptive assessment, direct instruction, and meaningful practice to build the required knowledge and skills.
Objectives:
- Participants in our Training-of-Trainers will experience Tutorials from a student’s perspective and will review data from a teacher’s perspective.
- For district and campus leadership, we will discuss implementation planning and program progress monitoring.
- For teachers, we will discuss Tutorials resources, classroom implementation strategies, and best practices.
- Participants will dive deep into the Tutorials and resources they need to share Apex Learning Tutorials with their district and campus stakeholders.
Sessions include hands-on activities so bring your own device and be prepared to interact and share.
