The New Coach Academy is a 6-day series intended to provide new coaches, administrators, and teacher leaders with the foundational knowledge, skills, and support needed to coach effectively. Through the academy, participants will use the Region 13 Balanced Coaching Framework to define the roles and work of an instructional coach, as well as learn essential instructional coaching practices and strategies, including:

establishing a principal-coach partnership

enrolling teachers in coaching cycles

setting student-centered goals
-
collecting observational data and providing feedback
-
building trusting relationships
-
questioning and active listening
-
balancing roles through time management techniques
-
impacting instruction through data analysis
-
planning for reflection and growth
In addition, each participant will receive Cards for Coaching, a fun game of coaching scenarios and question stems created to foster dialogue and build a coach's toolbox to respond to any situation that comes their way!
