Donna Y. Ford, Ph.D
Donna Y. Ford, Ph.D, is a Distinguished Professor of Education and Human Ecology and Kirwan Institute Faculty Affiliate at The Ohio State University's College of Education and Human Ecology. She is in the Educational Studies Dept., Special Education Program. She returned to OSU in Aug. 2019.
Professor Ford conducts research primarily in gifted education and multicultural/urban education.

Conference Format
The Advancing Academics conference will take place through a series of Zoom meetings. We are developing a Canvas course for attendees to access that will communicate the conference agenda, links to Zoom meetings, and documents that support the sessions..DAY 1 - ELEMENTARY FOCUS
Gifted and Talented sessions
This conference will meet the need of GT educators for a 6 hour update by providing a wide variety of topics pertaining to GT instructional strategies and curriculum. Sessions offered are being presented by experts in the field that have experience in meeting the needs of advanced learners through a variety of instructional methods. The focus of day one will be on elementary classrooms, while day two focuses on the needs of secondary learners. Both days will offer a variety of sessions surrounding the social and emotional needs of learners, as well as differentiation best practices for students across all grade levels.
PBL and STEM focus
PBL and STEM sessions will be provided both days for teachers that are interested in implementing these instructional methods in their classroom. There will be a session that offers examples of STEM activities, a session for understanding how to implement PBL in the class room for beginners across all grade levels, a session for understanding the STEM certification process and how to STEMify your lessons, and more!
