Merging Explicit Instruction with Dyslexia Strategies for All Students - Engagement (via Zoom & Canvas)
What Works for Special-Needs Learners Works for All Learners
This course is aligned to the Effective School Framework Prioritized Lever 5 EA 5.1: Objective-driven daily lesson plans with formative assessments.

Merging Explicit Instruction with Dyslexia Strategies for All Students - Engagement - focuses on the “art of teaching”. You will discover how to explicitly choose and teach vocabulary, and how to deliver organized lessons focused on student engagement while meeting the needs of ALL students including students with dyslexia and other reading challenges.  According to Dr. Anita Archer, “If instruction is truly interactive and students are constantly responding, then attention, on-task behavior, and learning increase, and behavioral challenges decrease.”

This course is based on the work of Anita Archer and Charles Hughes's Explicit Instruction: Effective and Efficient Teaching. This is a research-based instructional approach that empowers ALL classroom teachers to deliver instruction to diverse groups of learners.

Participants will need to have available a copy of the book.  Books may be purchased through your favorite bookstore. Also, check your school library to see if a copy is available.
