This workshop provides a comprehensive description of the Dual Discrepancy/Consistency (DD/C) method of SLD identification. Assuming a basic understanding of the pattern of strengths and weaknesses method, DD/C, and X-BASS, focus is placed on providing practitioners with an advanced training on the nuances of the DD/C method and advanced X-BASS features. Topics include 1) the Facilitating, Inhibiting, and Alternative Cognitive Composites (FCC, ICC, ACC, respectively); 2) definition and interpretation of the g-value and the relationship between the g-value and the FCC; 3) transitioning from Glr to Gl and Gr in X-BASS; 4) explanation and use of the “Data Entry – Other” tab; 5) When and how to use Orthographic Processing, Cognitive Efficiency, Executive Functions, etc. in the DD/C analysis; 6) What to do when difference between the FCC and cognitive weakness and/or FCC and academic weakness is statistically significant, but not considered “domain-specific” or “unexpected”, respectively; 7) What happens when Gc is the only weakness; 8) How do I use “cognitive” scores from “achievement” tests; 9) Description and use of the PSW-Quick Analysis; 11) Description and use of the “Evaluate Score Configuration” button on the XBA-Analyzer tab; and 12) How are “divergent scores” used, interpreted, and reported. Excerpts or examples from actual cases are used throughout this webinar to enhance understanding.
