STEAM: Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math in Early Childhood Special Education (ECSE) 

When should young children start learning about STEAM? The answer is NOW. It is never too early to start on a journey towards developmentally appropriate activities that make learning fun.

In this course, participants will learn how to use their students' natural curiosity about the world around them to build a fun foundation in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics.

 

Objectives:

  1.  Develop an understanding of why STEAM is a natural and important part of the early childhood classroom.
  2. Provide examples of developmentally appropriate lessons that can be easily implemented in the classroom that integrate the Preschool Guidelines and TEKS into the STEAM experiences.
  3.  Differentiating for many abilities within one STEAM experience.
  4.  Inspire educators to playfully engage in STEAM activities with their students.
