CPI Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Training meets the requirements in the Commissioner's Rules for training in prevention and de-escalation techniques and alternatives to the use of restraint as mandated by SB 1196 and TBSI.
With a core philosophy of providing for the Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security of everyone involved in a crisis situation, the CPI program’s proven strategies give human service providers and educators the skills to safely and effectively respond to anxious, hostile, or violent behavior while balancing the responsibilities of care.
This course provides guidance in behavior reductive strategies along with Nonviolent Physical Crisis Intervention Training that teaches safe, non-harmful control and restraint positions to safely control an individual until he/she can regain control of his/her behavior.
This is a BLENDED COURSE so the first half of the training must be completed online before January 31, 2022. Upon registration you will receive an email with directions to access the online course and downloadable resources. The final part of the course will be in person at Region 13 for the physical skills and review of online information on January 31st.
After successful completion of this training you will be certified for two years before you need to complete the CPI refresher course.
