A variety of topics will be discussed including the teaching of vocabulary, understanding of figurative language, as well as morphological and semantic components of language. Communication ideas will also be presented in the areas of life skills, self help, stories, early childhood, beginning communication and community based environments. Classroom examples will be shown through demonstrations, videos and slide shows of students in therapy as well as accessing and communicating within the school environment. Participants will create language activities for teaching word meanings, parts of speech, and vocabulary. Boardmaker will be used to develop communication activities for PECS, as well as overlays to be used with a variety of communication devices. 5 Hours of TSHA CEU's are pending.
