SY 22-23 Parent and Family Engagement: Module 1 - Overview / Requirements (In-person)

This training will be the first of 4 trainings hosted by ESC Region 13 for Title I, Part A, Parent and Family Engagement. These hybrid meetings will be focused on federal grant requirements and state requirements for Title I, Part A, Parent and Family Engagement (PFE).

The objectives of SY 22-23 Parent and Family Engagement: Module 1 – Overview / Requirements are:

  • Identify/recognize the importance of PFE.
  • Identify critical factors and guiding principles in PFE.
  • Define parent and family engagement under ESSA.
  • Utilize research to understand the importance and benefits of PFE.
  • Identify district and school level PFE requirements under ESSA.
  • Identify allowable uses of Title I PFE funds.
  • Identify school-parent compact requirements under ESSA.
  • Identify common monitoring trends and findings focused on parent and community engagement.
  • Explore resources focused on PFE.

 

 

For those of you who are attending the meeting in-person, please have your computer available so that you can follow along with the links throughout our interactions.

Consider being prepared to participate in the discussion of the following questions:

  • Why is PFE important?
  • What are the benefits of PFE?
  • What is the goal of educational organizations (ESCs, LEAs, district support centers, schools, etc.)?
  • How does PFE affect the achievement of the goals?
  • Can we influence parent and family involvement in our schools?
  • How can we work together to improve parent and family involvement, especially for middle school and high school?

Recommendation for who should attend from your LEA: We recommend you have a team attendance of the key stakeholders involved in Parent and Family Engagement at both your LEA/district level and your campus levels. This could include your federal programs staff, your central office PFE staff, your principals, your campus level PFE Staff, any parent liaisons, and/or a superintendent responsible for approving and authorizing your PFE policies and procedures.
