School Counselor Cooperative: The Supportive Duo: Canines and School Counselors
This workshop will explore the benefits of using canines as a counseling intervention in schools. We will discuss the research on how dogs can help students with a variety of issues, such as anxiety, depression, and social skills. Counselor Canines contribute to a positive school climate and build a culture of belonging. We will also learn about the different ways that dogs can be integrated into your school counseling program and learn the steps you need to take to incorporate canines at your campus! These steps will include and not limited to choosing your dog, developing your canine support program, and establishing your vision). Please note that our furry friends will be present during this learning day.
