This course will address the following:

  • Creating a classroom library with a wide variety of genres, topics, and reading levels to appeal to all students.

  • Providing time for independent reading and choice reading so students can explore their interests and discover new authors and titles.

  • Incorporating read-alouds into daily instruction to expose students to new books and foster a love of reading.

  • Encouraging book talks and book clubs to promote discussion and critical thinking about literature.

  • Creating a positive reading culture in the classroom by modeling reading behaviors, sharing personal reading experiences, and promoting reading as a lifelong habit.
