We will conduct these deep-dive working sessions with our guest facilitator, Rebecca Estrada, from TASBO, a previous CFO for Lackland ISD for 19 years, who has held numerous positions and awards within TASBO throughout her career. She regularly presents throughout the state on both finance topics and ESSER topics and she has also served as a facilitator for the ESC R13 principal and superintendent certification programs. The custom content for these meetings will be interactive and co-developed to contain the latest, up-to-date information from TEA plus other TASBO courses combined to target the topics listed.

Recommendation for who should attend from your LEA: We recommend you have a team attendance of the key stakeholders involved in the financial and grant management requirements. This could include your federal program/grant manager/director, your business manager or CFO, your accounting clerk or the person responsible for your drawdown requests, your procurement or purchasing staff, the person responsible for your general ledger and/or payroll, some HR personnel and/or a superintendent responsible for approving and authorizing these activities.

Please have your computer available so that you can follow along with the links, use the Canvas course, and go to all required resources throughout our interactions.

Participants will have the opportunity to:

  • Increase their understanding on federal grants and program management
  • Increase their exposure to the critical collaboration necessary between program staff and finance/business staff plus other stakeholders
  • Understand ways to reduce risk associated with federal grants
  • Explore the book Federal Education Grants Management: What Administrators Need to Know by L. M. Manasevit, T. W. Kesslar, and S. A. Spillan of Brustein & Manasevit from LRP Publications
