Teaching Expectations to Manage Student Behavior
Online Course, Self-directed
2.00 CPE Credits
$40.00
Establishing high expectations is essential, but teaching them to your students allows them the ability to achieve your vision. Teaching how you want your classroom to look and sound during different activities is crucial for the overall success of your classroom management. If you don't teach it, you can't expect it.   Teaching your expectations and integrating Social Emotional Learning (SEL) within your everyday practices will highlight those teachable moments that lead to lifelong success. If or when students fall short of meeting your expectations, providing them with a process to reflect on the harm their behavior has caused shifts the ownership of correcting the behavior back to the student. You can effectively manage student behavior in your classroom by weaving together expectations, SEL, and restorative practices.
