Are you ready to increase the amount of collaborative academic talk among students in your classroom?  How about elevating the “joy factor” in your literacy block?  Join us for this workshop-style course in the basics of starting book clubs in your classroom.  Walk away from this day of transformative learning equipped with strategies to enhance students’ oral language and reading comprehension through rich discussions in small groups for the love of reading.



Learners who participate in this course will:

  • understand how to promote student agency and learner-centered practices in the classroom through student book clubs.

  • curate a collection of comprehension questions that can be used for nearly any book.

  • explore and evaluate various systems and routines through collaboration with colleagues.

  • design a personalized plan with specific systems and routines for implementing book clubs in their literacy block.
