6.00 CPE Credits
$100.00

During this workshop, participants will learn how to meaningfully participate as a Dyslexia Multidisciplinary Team member when referring and evaluating a student for Dyslexia and related disorders under IDEA following guidance in the 2024 Dyslexia Handbook. Topics will include exploring elements related to screening for dyslexia, being involved in the referral and evaluation process when dyslexia is suspected as an area of disability under IDEA, and how to be an active, involved member of the ARD committee process. Additional topics will include exploring the definition and characteristics of dyslexia, learning about the cognitive processes associated with dyslexia, and what a student profile of dyslexia might look like in an FIIE (Full Individual Initial Evaluation). Discussions will be centered around determining the unique needs of students receiving evidence-based instruction for dyslexia and how a provider of dyslexia instruction might consider individualizing to support student success while maintaining the fidelity of the program.
