Engage. Connect. Excel. Enhancing Parent and Family Engagement in Education

This training will be the fourth of 4 hybrid trainings hosted by ESC Region 13 focused on federal grant requirements and state requirements for Title I, Part A, Parent and Family Engagement (PFE). This workshop series will equip educational organizations, school leaders, and district personnel with the necessary tools and knowledge to effectively engage parents and families in the education process. Through a comprehensive overview of federal guidelines and interactive discussions, participants will gain a deeper understanding of the importance and benefits of parent and family engagement, as well as the critical factors and guiding principles that drive successful partnerships. From identifying PFE requirements and allowable uses of Title I funds, to exploring resources and common monitoring trends, this workshop series will provide practical strategies for enhancing parent and family involvement at both the district and school level. Join us for this comprehensive workshop series to learn how to strengthen partnerships with parents and families for the benefit of student success under ESSA. You will leave with a deeper understanding of PFE and practical strategies to implement at your district and school.

Unlocking the power of Parent and Family Engagement: A comprehensive guide for ESSA compliance. The objectives of PFE (SY 24-25) - The Content and Cycle of the Written Parent and Family Engagement Policies (LEA and Campus/School Level) are:

  1. Know the requirements for district and school level PFE policies.

  2. Identify compliant and non-compliant areas in current policies.

  3. Apply knowledge of requirements to revise current policies.

  4. Understand the differences between PFE policy and a Family Engagement Plan.

  5. Review common monitoring trends and findings for PFE.

  6. Utilize resources focused on Written Parent and Family Engagement Policies.

 

Consider being prepared to participate in the discussion of the following questions:

  • What must be included in the LEA level PFE policy?
  • What must be included in the school level PFE policy?
  • What are the required compliance touch-points for the LEA and school level PFE policies?
  • How can we bring together PFE strategies with other relevant federal, state, and local laws and programs?
  • What methods of distribution do you use?
  • How can we improve our distribution of PFE information?

Recommendation for who should attend from your LEA: We recommend you have a team attendance of the key stakeholders involved in Parent and Family Engagement at both your LEA/district level and your campus levels. This could include your federal programs staff, your central office PFE staff, your principals, your campus level PFE Staff, any parent liaisons, truancy coordinators, counselors, and/or a superintendent responsible for approving and authorizing your PFE policies and procedures.
