The goal of a Gifted and Talented program is to provide students with an opportunity to demonstrate skills in self-directed learning, thinking, research, and communication that are advanced in relation to other students. This course will provide an overview of the Nature and Needs of gifted students that we serve in our programs. We will also explore the standards of the Texas State Plan for the Education of Gifted and Talented Students in-depth, covering 5 of the 6 sections of state regulations for programming.
This is an in-person workshop that is part of the foundational 30 hour training requirement for gifted and talented teachers. Teachers who want to meet the full training requirement can register for the additional workshops offered in this series:
- Gifted and Talented: Identification and Assessment Requirements for GT Students
- Gifted and Talented: Differentiation for Advanced Learners
- Gifted and Talented: Planning with the Texas Performance Standards Project
- Gifted and Talented: Understanding the Depth and Complexity Framework
