Evaluating ‘’Specific” Specific Learning Disabilities using a Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses Model: Dysgraphia
Join us for a session on best practices for identifying dysgraphia. With the requirements under new state laws and the Texas Education Agency's Specific Learning Disability Identification Guidance, and the implications of the new 2024 Dyslexia Handbook, evaluators have been challenged to question their current practices.
This session will clarify recent changes, enhance competence, and boost confidence. In recent years, the number of students suspected of having Dysgraphia has increased. This session will concentrate on typical writing development, which will enable us to understand atypical writing and plan an evaluation that combines writing samples with norm-referenced testing. We will practice evaluating writing to improve reliability and confidence.
This session will be presented by Dr. Edward K. Schultz.
Dr. Schultz is the founder and architect of the C-SEP. He is currently a Professor of Special Education at Midwestern State University (MSU). In addition to preparing educational diagnosticians at MSU, he has written numerous peer-reviewed articles concerning SLD identification, conduct training across the country and has worked with state departments of education.
