Evaluating ‘’Specific” Specific Learning Disabilities using a Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses Model: Dyscalculia
The term "Dyscalculia" is used to describe students who face difficulties with mathematical calculations, concepts, and applications. In this session, the participants will gain an understanding of typical mathematical development to distinguish it from atypical development. We will use test manuals to improve test selection and interpretation and to help identify skill deficits. We will also use curriculum-based measures to support our testing data, break down skill deficits, and develop impact statements.
This session will be presented by Dr. Edward K. Schultz.
Dr. Schultz is the founder and architect of the C-SEP. He is currently a Professor of Special Education at Midwestern State University (MSU). In addition to preparing educational diagnosticians at MSU, he has written numerous peer-reviewed articles concerning SLD identification, conduct training across the country and has worked with state departments of education.
