Considerations for Emergent Bilingual Students

This Academy is a general overview of the unique needs of emergent bilingual students.
Through this academy you will explore and understand:
- how The Dyslexia Handbook, 2021 Update addresses emergent bilingual students;
- the process of second language acquisition;
- the benefits of bilingualism;
- the various types of alphabetic systems that exist around the world;
- data gathering and formal evaluation; and
- instructional programming for emergent bilingual students.
(To receive credit for attendance and participation in the Texas Dyslexia Academies, the participant needs to attend the module in its entirety. Late participants will not be admitted to the virtual course after 15 minutes from the start of the course and should plan to attend the full three-hour training session via Zoom. )
