What participants will learn:
* The core principles and 14 optimal practices of the "Building Thinking Classrooms" framework, including how to create a classroom environment that fosters critical thinking and engagement in mathematics.
* How to implement effective instructional strategies to encourage student autonomy and deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.
* Practical techniques for selecting and designing rich mathematical tasks that promote exploration, discussion, and sustained thinking.
* Methods to build a classroom culture where students feel comfortable taking risks, sharing ideas, and thinking critically about mathematics.
* How to create and manage flexible groupings that promote collaborative learning and maximize participation and engagement from all students.
* Strategies to encourage student perseverance in problem solving, including how to pose purposeful questions and support productive struggle.
Additional Information:
The one-time registration for the professional development will register you for all three days of the workshop. Credit hours will only be given for the days attended in this workshop.
**Books will be shipped to registered participants using the address listed in your e-campus account. Due to the registration fees containing the cost for books, participants who register and cancel (or no-show) will still be charged the books’ fee due to ordering specifications and shipping requirements.**
