Lunch & Learn: Psychiatry, Medication and Treating Students with Mental Health Diagnoses

Join us for a thought-provoking workshop led by an Austin-based child psychiatrist who works with children with a broad range of mental health disorders. Learn about the different kinds of medications used to treat varying mental health diagnoses, and explore the effects of medication on young brains, behaviors, and feelings. Additionally, learn to assess who might be a good referral for medication management, and how to make that referral.

1. Identify common mental health disorders in children and understand how they are treated with medication.
2. Discuss the potential impacts of medications on developing brains and behaviors.
