CALM Training - Counseling on Access to Lethal Means April 2026
3.00 CPE Credits
Counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM) is a course offered as part of the Texas Suicide Prevention Collaborative. CALM addresses the "HOW" of suicide prevention, rather than the "WHY". This training demonstrates research that shows how reducing access to lethal means, such as firearms and medication, can determine whether a person at risk for suicide lives or dies. This training covers who needs lethal means counseling and how to work with people at risk for suicide - and their families - to reduce access. Opportunities to work withrough case scenarios and practice lethal means counseling will be provided.
