The Dyslexia Leadership Endorsement Program is a yearlong, 150-hour training program designed for dyslexia specialists and interventionists who wish to become Dyslexia Leaders at the campus or district level. The program is designed to provide participants with deeper understanding, polished methodologies, and expertise skills necessary to support and mentor teachers and other district staff in servicing students with dyslexia.

The program will cover a wide range of topics, including:

  • Foundations of Dyslexia
  • Dyslexia as an SLD under IDEA
  • Screening and Evaluating Dyslexia
  • Best Practices for Writing IEP goals
  • Conducting Classroom Observations
  • Instructional Coaching for Providers of Dyslexia Instruction
  • Polishing Explicit Methodologies for Dyslexia Instruction
  • Grouping and Progress Monitoring students
  • Dysgraphia
  • Other Related Disorders of Dyslexia
  • Interventions for “literacy at-risk” students
  • Strategies for Emergent Bilingual Students
  • Informal Reading Inventories and Screening Tools
  • 6 Texas Dyslexia Academies

At the end of the program, you will be able to:

  • Serve as the ARD Multi-Disciplinary Dyslexia member (MDT member)
  • Support and mentor Providers of Dyslexia Instruction
  • Collaborate with School Psychologists and Diagnosticians on Dyslexia Evaluations
  • Support screening and interpretation of screening data for students who may be “at risk” for dyslexia
  • Develop Dyslexia focused IEP goals
  • Collaborate with staff and other stakeholders to provide effective services and support to students with dyslexia
  • Provide instructional coaching and explicit feedback for PDIs and classroom implementation
  • Support MTSS and RtI teams in providing targeted interventions and progress monitoring for students with dyslexia or other reading difficulties
  • Provide informal reading inventories and data for students with dyslexia and other reading difficulties

Who Should Attend

The Dyslexia Endorsement Program is designed for dyslexia specialists or interventionists who are currently trained in an evidenced-based reading program and want to expand their roles and responsibilities at either the campus or district level.  Instructional coaches and other staff who will be supporting or evaluating providers of dyslexia instruction will also benefit from the learning opportunities provided through this program.

Please visit the Region 13 Education Service Center website to register for the Dyslexia Endorsement Program.  All meeting dates, both in person and virtual, will be available to registered participants during first meeting on September 9, 2025.
