Social Studies: A Powerful Partnership – Elementary RLA and Social Studies   Strengthen instruction and boost student outcomes by exploring the powerful alignment between the skills-based TEKS in Elementary Social Studies and Reading Language Arts. In this session, educators will examine how to intentionally integrate social studies content while targeting key literacy skills such as analyzing, summarizing, making inferences, and using text evidence. Participants will explore high-impact strategies and planning tools to ensure that both content areas are taught with depth and purpose—without doubling the workload.   Participants will:

  • Explore the overlap between RLA and Social Studies skills-based TEKS
  • Learn strategies for integrating social studies content into reading and writing instruction
  • Practice planning lessons that build background knowledge while reinforcing key literacy skills
  • Leave with ideas that support student success in both content areas
