Social Studies for ALL: Supporting Emergent Bilingual and Special Education Students
Every student deserves access to meaningful, rigorous social studies learning. This session is designed for 6–12 social studies teachers and instructional leaders who want to strengthen support for Emergent Bilingual and Special Education students while maintaining high expectations and rich content learning.
Participants will:- Explore research-based strategies that promote accessibility without reducing complexity.
- Learn how to scaffold instruction in ways that build academic language, content knowledge, and historical thinking skills.
- Discover tools for differentiating tasks while preserving the integrity of social studies TEKS.
- Engage in designing inclusive learning experiences that recognize and leverage the assets all learners bring to the classroom.
