If you are looking for ways to elevate student engagement and deepen learning then this workshop is for you! We'll explore how to move beyond rote memorization and towards a more rigorous, inquiry-based approach.
Participants will:
- Gain a deep understanding of the four Depth of Knowledge (DOK) levels, learning to identify the cognitive demands of different tasks and questions.
- Explore the concept of teaching for transfer, focusing on how to design learning experiences that enable students to apply historical thinking skills to new contexts, both within and outside of the social studies classroom.
