Adapted PE: Strategies for All

This interactive workshop will focus on designing effective Adapted Physical Education (APE) routines and lesson plans that promote participation and success for all students. Participants will explore how to implement these routines in both general and special education settings, including how to modify and accommodate lessons for students with Visual Impairments, Autism, and Complex Access Needs. Practical strategies and engaging activities will be shared to help every learner thrive in physical education.

This workshop is being presented by Justin Morton of ESC Region 3. Justin Morton is a dedicated professional with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology and a Master of Education. With over ten years of experience in Adapted Physical Education (PE) and specialized instruction, Justin has helped expand access to quality physical education for students with disabilities. He began his career as a Behavior Classroom Teacher and later served as an Adapted PE Teacher from 2014 to 2021. During this time, he expanded inclusion opportunities in physical education by implementing the Special Olympics Young Athletes Program, which engaged prekindergarten-aged students with and without disabilities. He also coached Special Olympics basketball, track and field, and bowling. Since 2021, Justin has served as an Education Specialist with Region 3 Education Service Center, working as a trainer and coach in the areas of Autism, Complex Needs, Assistive Technology, and Adapted PE. He has delivered numerous Adapted PE workshops across Texas education service centers and presented at statewide events, including the 2025 TEA Autism Conference. Justin is passionate about ensuring every student receives the specialized supports they need to thrive and reach their full potential.
