Join us for a dynamic 4-hour interactive instructor training designed to equip school educators and staff with the tools to deliver Think SMART, a 6 lesson opioid misuse and suicide prevention curriculum tailored for students in grades 6 through 12. Think Smart is designed to help children and teens build confidence, understand opioid misuse risks, and make healthy choices. The program also includes fentanyl education and suicide prevention to support schools in Tucker's Law (HB 3908) compliance. This engaging training will walk participants through the curriculum’s age-appropriate content, focusing on increasing knowledge, developing refusal skills, applying harm-reduction strategies, and fostering healthy decision-making. The training offers hands-on activities, strategies to facilitate engaging class discussion, and classroom management techniques for effective student engagement. By the end of this session, facilitators will:
- Understand the goals and structure of the 6 lesson curriculum
- Learn how to adapt content for various grade levels
- Gain skills to create a safe and inclusive learning environment
- Practice delivering interactive components of the curriculum
- Be prepared to lead impactful prevention education sessions with confidence
