Safety Planning Intervention (SPI) is a 4-hour, virtual or in-person training for adults to learn how to collaboratively intervene with a person at risk for suicide in developing a safety plan. SPI is a brief, collaborative intervention that provides individuals with a specific set of coping strategies and resources to use at any time to mitigate acute suicide risk. This training, developed by Drs. Barbara Stanley and Greg Brown, explains when and how to work with individuals to create a safety plan and describes each of the steps involved. Participants will learn how to:

·       Discuss the evidence behind and rationale for Safety Planning Intervention;

·       Describe and discuss each of the steps in the intervention; and

·       Practice the steps in the intervention via role play exercises.
