Stepping into the science classroom for the first time is thrilling, but balancing hands-on inquiry, classroom management, and instructional requirements can feel overwhelming. This workshop is designed specifically for educators new to teaching science where we look at foundational tools and management routines needed to hit the ground running. We will introduce you to tools that will support you in unpacking the standards, explore lab procedures, and discuss assessment frameworks that will help you plan for instruction. 

Join your peers across grades 3–12 for a dynamic, connected learning experience! We will launch our sessions together to build a shared foundation, then split into specialized elementary and secondary breakout tracks to focus on the unique needs of your classroom.

Learning Objectives:

• Deepen your understanding of the TEKS and resources that can be used to ensure alignment with the state standards
• Explore ways to assess your students to gauge student mastery and drive instructional adjustments throughout the year. 
• Discover day-to-day routines and procedures that will help your classroom run smoothly 
• Problem-solve common first-year science classroom dilemmas, from material management to pacing hurdles, within a collaborative peer network
• Dedicate structured planning time to internalize the day’s learning and determine the best ways to implement ideas and strategies in the classroom
