RAVE-O is an elementary reading intervention written and developed by Dr. Maryanne Wolf, Director of the Center for Reading and Language Research, Tufts University, Boston. RAVE-O stands for Reading through, Automaticity, Vocabulary, Engagement and Orthography. Lessons effectively link oral and written language teaching strategies to a higher rate of word retrieval and deeper word knowledge, impacting reading and comprehension fluency.
This intervention targets students in Grades 2-5, particularly students with:
- low naming speed,
-struggling readers also learning English
-students who need help attending to and enjoying reading within Tier 2 or Tier 3 intervention in an RtI program.
Using an interactive, practice-driven training process, the 2-day (12 instructional hours) session prepares participants to immediately begin implementing the RAVE-O program. Offered in partnership with Cambium Learning.
Teacher kits are not included within the registration fee, and while not necessary for the training, purchase and usage by participants for the workshop is highly recommended. RAVE-O program materials are necessary for teachers to effectively implement this reading intervention. Kits are available through the following web address: http://www.soprislearning.com/cs/Satellite/RAVE-O_Overview?cmsid=Sopris
A minimum of 12 participants are required for the delivery of this workshop. If fewer than 12 teachers register, a fee will not be charged and the workshop will be offered at a later date.
