Estrellita is a Spanish reading curriculum designed to effectively teach young children to read through an accelerated, systematic, explicit phonics program. Based on reading practices throughout Latin America, the program used sonido inicialses, silabas, and blends to support beginning readers. Comprehension, writing and assessments are also addressed. Estrellita is currently being used on the following settings:
- As an accelerated program in Pre K, Kindergarten, and 1st. grade bilingual classrooms
- As an ESL/Dyslexia intervention
- In Dual language immersion classrooms
- Recent arrivals with limited schooling
- RTI
This training is designed to teach you how to use the program in your classroom. You will benefit from this training if you have the program and materials but do not know how to effectively teach it. You do not have to bring any materials for the training.
