Dr. Anita Archer Presents: Getting Them All Engaged - Inclusive Active Participation

Anita Archer and Charles Hughes's Explicit Instruction: Effective and Efficient Teaching is a research-based instructional approach that empowers teachers to deliver instruction to diverse groups of learners. The workshops in this course will explore how to design and deliver scaffolded lessons that are organized for active participation as well as effective and efficient classroom management with mastery learning as the ultimate goal.

Do you have students who are not attending or participating during your lessons? Dr. Anita Archer will show you how to actively engaged all of your students in instruction by using research validated procedures. You'll learn about verbal responses (choral, partner, team, and individual), written responses (response slates and response cards), and action responses (acting out, gestures, hand signals) as you learn how to improve your classroom participation.

 

Second Day: Making it Stick

Learn how to transform your classrooms with better practice. Dr. Archer will show you how to craft better practice which helps student remember, use, transfer, or retain information.

Anita L. Archer, PhD, is an educational consultant to school districts on explicit instruction, the design and delivery of instruction, behavior management, and literacy instruction. She has taught elementary and middle school students and is the recipient of 10 awards honoring her excellence in teaching and contributions to the field of education. Dr. Archer has served on the faculties of San Diego State University, the University of Washington in Seattle, and the University of Oregon in Eugene. She is nationally known for her professional development activities, having presented in every state over the course of her 40-year career. Dr. Archer is coauthor, with Dr. Mary Gleason, of numerous curriculum materials addressing reading, writing, and study skills.
