At-Risk Services Network: Interventions with Male Students

The At-Risk Services Network is designed to keep school personnel up-to-date and informed on best practices related to at-risk students. The network will provide the opportunity for school personnel from all areas to keep informed, share information and resources, and build a network of support with other campuses and districts.

Traditional school-based interventions can often be an off-putting experience for boys as it is in direct opposition to the ways they generally interact and connect with others. This workshop will explore a variety of creative approaches that school personnel can use to better reach their young male students. Creative approaches include such as intentional play, sports, movement, gross-motor activity, animal-assisted therapy, the use of video games and computers.
