Collaborative Leadership by Peter Dewitt

What type of leadership do you practice? Many of us rely on transformational and instructional leadership. But there are advantages in applying a holistic angle including all stakeholders—an approach known as collaborative leadership.

Peter DeWitt unpacks six factors framed through John Hattie’s research while painting a powerful scheme: meet stakeholders where they are, motivate stakeholders to strive for improvement, and model how to do it.

The blueprint will inspire you to:

  • Transform your leadership practice
  • Identify where you can make changes
  • Build and empower your team
  • Incorporate all stakeholders into the conversation

The School Improvement Team is pleased to host Peter DeWitt for a two-day training.

Day 1: Components of Collaborative Leadership

The institute is about sharing best practices at the same time Peter makes his way through important concepts of the book. There will be personal stories about:

  • Taking over a leadership role
  • Surviving a school consolidation
  • We start off by goal setting
  • Why are you here?
  • What is your goal?
  • What has been your biggest challenge?

Day 2: School Climate. Climate Control

  • Establishing an inclusive and supportive school climate
  • What is school climate?
  • How do we foster an inclusive and supportive school climate?
  • Policies and student codes of conduct
  • Minoritized populations

Each campus principal is invited to bring 3 campus leaders and a district representative for a total of 5 participants per campus.

All participants will receive a copy of the book Collaborative Leadership: Six Influences that Matter Most.
