What is engagement? We hear it all the time, students need to be engaged, but what is it really? In this workshop, Michelle Harris defines and explores engagement.
During this workshop you will learn how to successfully gauge whether you students are truly engaged. You will learn strategies to gather data for:

Getting a clear picture of reality

Setting goals

Monitoring progress toward goals
Participants will:

Learn what distinguishes the different types of engagement:

» Emotional

Develop methods for gathering data and measuring various types of engagement

Practice the five teaching strategies proven to reach engagement goals and increase learning:
» Thinking prompts; Effective Questions; Stories, Cooperative Learning, and Authentic Learning
